I finally got around to replacing my old pioneer deck over the weekend and decided to add an ipod adapter (cd-ib100) and sirius tuner (sir-pnr2). I already had an older changer installed that I also kept (1280 I think).
I've got the IP-Bus running to the ipod adapter first, then the sirius tuner, then the changer. Both the changer and ipod are working perfectly. However, the sirius tuner gives me nothing. When I switch the source to sirius, it takes a few seconds, then starts blinking "acquiring signal" on channel 184 (preview/activation channel). When I change it to any other channel, I get the "please call 1-888-539-SIRI" message. I also hear no audio on the preview channel.
So, my first thought was that maybe I had the ip-bus input and output cables reversed. Switching those resulted in the same symptoms from the Sirius source and took away the sound from the Multi-cd source. I also tried a different antenna, no luck there either.
So, I called sirius to see if they could re-send the activation signal. Did that and still nothing. The tech kept telling me the antenna must be installed where it can't get a good signal. So, I plugged in my sportster dock to the same antenna and played it for him to show him that is not the case.
My only other thought, and I only thought of this after I closed everything up for the night and went to bed, is perhaps they Sirius tuner has to be first in line on the daisy chain? Does that matter? It doesn't say anything about it in the manual, but I've seen stranger things.
I won't be able to mess with it again until Saturday, hence why I'm posting asking for thoughts. My first plan on Saturday will be to disconnect the changer and ipod adapter from the chain so that only the sirius tuner is on the ip-bus cable.
Another thought... Perhaps the sirius tuner must be connected closer to the head unit? I have a 10 ft cable running under the seat to the ipod unit, then use the shorter cables to chain the rest in. Should I mount the Sirius up under the dash somewhere and connect it to the head unit with the cable that came in the package?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts/comments/help.
