this is my first HU install, i am in the middle of it and i am swapping out an alpine 9856 for the pioneer deh-p7800mp. the alpine was professionally installed before i added external amplifiers and the leads going to each speaker were connected. upon adding the amps, i guess the install guy never disconnected the leads that were crimped to speaker wire that went to the stock speakers.
i am assuming that since the amps get their signal via RCA cables that i do not need to wire up the leads for each speaker. is this correct?
if it is, that would leave the following connections to make (correct me if i forgot something):
1.ground
2. illumination
3. red wire to "electric terminal controlled by ignition switch"
then of course the rcas.
i wired up the blue/white lead to "system control terminal of the power amp" but the install manual says "when an external amp is being used, be sure not to connect the blue/white lead to the amps power terminal. likewise, do not connect the blue/white lead to the power terminal of the auto antenna."
i wired it up because the alpine HU was wired up, however, the alpine HU had the feature that allowed me to turn off the internal amp. did i do it wrong?
also, i dont see anywhere to wire up the lead that is for the mute function, not in any of the existing wiring or the wiring harness.
also, i kept the wiring harness that i had been using for the alpine, although to make the new connections i obviously had to slightly shorten some of the leads, will this be problematic?
