pioneer 740 radio reception

since the beginning ive noticed that the reception is pretty bad, i forgot how it was like with the stock hu because i switched it out soon after i got my car. it's a 98 accord, and i recently had my subs put in and told my friend the problem and he made sure the anteanna plug going into the back of the hu was in and im still having that problem. any suggestions? i was thinkin maybe its the car anteanna? i bought the hu this past summer so i think warranty should still be good if i should look into it being an internal problem..any suggestions?
