DEH-6800MP AUX problem help plz

hey guys i just bought this deck and the aux feature on the bottom is awesome! put it isnt reading when i stick the plug into the aux port to my mp3 player.....i even tryed it with my mom's I-POD and it still didnt read can someone help me please thanks.......

Does the AUX function come up when you switch the source? If not, you'll need to turn on the AUX function. If it does, you may need to select AUX 1 vs AUX 2. Check your owner's manual.
