pioneer 3002spl enclosure?

"Optimal" is a word that carries many opinions. An optimal performance from that sub (which I own two of btw) might not be what is 'optimal' to you. What are you trying to achieve exactly? If it is a daily vehicle, then you do not want all SPL. Generally, SQL (sound quality level) would be desirable for a daily vehicle. IMO, that sun will do just fine in that enclosure, but I would tune lower just because the driver is capable of delivering some major ball-shaking lows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

So it will get lower if tuned lower, correct? But it will get louder if tuned higher? Well the problem I have is this is going under the rear seat of a quad cab truck, so space is very limited. And this is the only premade box available that is over 1 cube. And I know I need volume if I want it ported, and loud. I guess I will just go with this one then. Thanks.

If you want spl tune for a higher frequency. A subwoofer will naturally drop of at the lower frequncies which is the goal of ported/vented enclousre(to boost the lows). If you tune high you are essentially making the loudest note of the subwoofer and boosting it. Be carefull when you have a box tuned high you will need to be be extra careful when setting you hpf which will keep the subwoofer from bottoming out.

I agree with PhatTonyDeMarco... the 3002spl will sound good in the box you have but i would tune it lower like 26-30hz.

Those subs sound great in low tuned boxes...

I have one in 2 cubes @ 30hz powered by a mtx2300x and the lows and loudness are great.
