PICS! Rainbow SLC 265, Second Skin Door Install

Turn the switch to high pass, when the x/o is on full, the high pass and low pass are defeated. keep all the other settings the same.
will do, after I relax and watch some TV (Been working on the car all day)

I'm also kindof peeved about how much time I spent trying to build an amp rack intot he sidewalls of the trunk.

I'm using 1/2" MDF and it ended up TOO big. the amp was sticking out past the face of the subwoofers, i want it more flush and nice like this

I know if I could fiberglass I could do what I want but I dont want to get into glassing right now.

If anyone knows of a good way to mount a rectangular piece of MDF to the sidewall of a trunk let me know.

I CANNOT DRILL. The gas tank is right there.

My idea was to Jbweld some bolts sticking out, drill some holes in the mdf and line it up then hold it in with nuts. It worked for awhile but the strain eventually broke free of the jbweld bond.

I might need a stronger expoxy to do this but it might work.

Or I can try to figure out some type of strapped down design.

I have the same problem. I have to install my SCSS6's on the plastic part, not the metal part behind the door. I am wondering if its going to go good at all. Its annoying. There is also this cup of foam that i think seals off behind the speaker from the whole rest of the door, making a little basket or enclosure as you said. I hope this is good.

i got a Q for you:
You put dampening inside the door too right? but how, you took the whole door aport?

And whats that green stuff around the speakers?

that white stuff on the door, its the 2nd pix from the top. what is that? thats not used?

That kit comes with glue right?

Can you give me a website where you got your stuff?

TY
Although I know the door panel is a great place to put the tweeter, I just can't see myself cutting into the door at least for now. The sail panels are $5 and easy enough to trial and error with, once I get them all setup with the amp, then I'll see where it's the best.

Now for the quote above. I just went through the 3 openings to apply rhe damper which is from secondskinaudio.com. It is a bhit hard to lay the inner part of the door (lots of small cuts, but it matters!) The white covering is what I took off, its like a moisture sealer, since the doors are completely sealed now. I dont need that

by any chance do you drive a 300M, Dodge Intrepid, Chrysler Concorde or LHS?

What year is your Civic? Mine had the factory mirror pods that were used for the CDT tweets. Maybe they are offered for yours in the SI or EX version.

Hey guys! For all of your panel dampening needs, check out raamaudio.com

Rick, the owner, is a great guy. Excellent prices and products.

Even if you don't buy his products, there's an excellent step by step tutorial(with pictures) of sound deadening a vehicle.

Hope you find it helpfull. I did.

I should probably deaden the sheet metal, the thing is I'm out of dampener for this door. I mean I dont know if it would make a huge enough difference for me to order some more, and apply it over the sheet metal?

Just go buy some rubberized undercoating. 3M makes some good stuff. Spray the hell out of that sheet metal and it will deaden it up just fine.

BTW, love your avatar. Now if we could just get him to read it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

who hoo, these rainbows sound awesome so far, i just did a test hearing, then i have to re-wire the 500/1. stayed tuned for more pics.

Here's something I've done in the past, and it may seem funny at first: Velcro. Get Velcro strips and attach one side to the back of the amp and the other to the sheet metal/plastic. The adhesive on the Velcro strips is usually pretty strong, and a full strip of Velcro is pretty solid as well. The only down side is that it makes it a little easier for the thieves to just pull it off and run, but not much is gonna stop them once they place their filthy paws on your gear anyway.
Anyway, I have a question about the door in the pics. What happens when you say, want to lubricate your window guides or need to replace the window glass or the motor? I'm actually in the process of deadening my doors, but I'm cautious about closing up all the large access holes (which are there for a good reason - access). My idea was to just cover them up with plastic and tape it up good. Covering up these access holes with something like Brown Bread (which is what I've been using) is not easy to remove and could make a real mess if the need arises.

Oh, and one other thing. Couldn't tell from the photos, but make sure you don't use deadener to fill up the tiny holes on the bottom edge of the door. Those are drain holes and plugging those up will cause moisture to build up. If that happens, your car could rust from the inside out. Not good at all. Other then that, it looks awesome!
