Another "help me pick my comps" thread, but at least I'm specific...

I finally decided to go passive over active, and I looked at a lot of passive sets. 6.5", good midbass, at least 50W rms, and decent clarity. I'm on a tight budget, so I'm not looking for audiophile quality. My budget is preferably around $100, I'll go as high as $130. I know it's not much to work with, but I am not looking for top of the line equipment. There is something for every price range.

Here is what I have narrowed it down to:

Blaupunkt Vc660...$95 shipped

CDT CL-S60A ($100 shipped)

I have heard good things about them as a budget comp set, and they have upgraded tweeters

I have heard lots of good things about Crystal, and these are actually in my price range. I'd love to try them out, and they are not too expensive either.

Thanks for any input. After a few months of research and buying stuff, the speakers are the last thing on my list.

Just as a side note, the amp powering these is an old school US Acoustics 4050. 50x4 or 160x2 I think.

The RSD's are really nice. I have the 6" inch set. They sound great and have great midbass.

They go in and out of stock about every week, just keep checking and pick them up, theyre nice.

Although they arent authorized, but if you want to save a little, then buy from them.

I am using the CDT's and love them, secondly i think the CDT's would be the only speakers on your list that would be purchased from an authorized net dealer. I say CDT FTW!!

So...one vote for RSDs and one for CDTs...

No one has experience with that set of Crystals or the PG Xenons?

RSd's are supposed to be better than the Xenon comps, so tally up another vote to those.

If you have a decnt amount of power to feed them, the SSCS6's will shine. Hopefully some members with them like kicker06 will chime in to give you his take.

The Crystals I'm looking at are the Cpe 6.5's, not the popular SSCS6's. Those are a bit out of my price range, and I cannot wait to save up. I only have two weeks to do my install, starting in one week.

Another option... go to ebay and search for the Blaupunkt Vc660 comps. Should find a seller that's asking I think $90. Very decent midbass and all around set for that kind of money.

Another option, haha thanks. I have heard a lot about the Velocity line amps, but not the comps. I'll look into it more.

Those Blaupunkts are looking better and better...and great price. I am waiting to hear back from a guy who bought them on another forum. I just want to see what he thought of them. Thanks for pointing them out to me.

I can vouch for the RSD6.5 comps. They sound worlds better in clarity of vocals, and they really kick too. Tweeters to me sound great. I have them running 120w per side.

..then again I haven't listened to anything but Polk 6x9s off 60w, but I still think these RSDs will be in my vehicle for a WHILE.
