*PICS* PA 2250D lots of silicone inside?

make sure u test it first....cuz i bought the same exact amp from the same exact person on eBay and i got nothing out of it.

Power light on but no bass/signal going to the subs...luckily this crazy asian dude at a pawn shop is a beast with fixing amps soo he fixed it for $40 and it worked ok.

Good Luck.

175A is a little big for 4AWG.
It should be ok since I have 1/0ga going all the way back, I'll only have about 3ft of Stinger Expert 4ga. power cable going from the distro block to the amp. Now if you only had 4ga from the battery back then I would say that you'd bee pushing it a lil.

You sure that's silicon , looks like glue to hold the components in to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Not sure exactly what it is, looks like silicon too me, but also looks like that glue from a hot glue gun :p

LOL, well thats reassuring. This weekend I will find out.

i think they do that most of the time that an amp is repaired. When i got my ss Ref 604 back from repairs theres alot of that stuff around the repaired components. Hasnt given me a single problem yet.

They don't do that on just refurbs . Lotta stress on a tiny little solder joint . The glue helps lessen the strain on said solder joints //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Haha...i know as i was typing this i was like this will be no help whatsoever.

But just my experience with them...could just be a fluke.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PAs are really decent amps i still have my VX1400...and its been on a few setups solid soild soild!!!

With heavy things like transformers and large power supply caps, the components must be secured against vibration to prevent the solder joints from breaking over the normal course of the amps in-car use. Most of the amps I've opened up used a silicone type adhesive to provide some dampening to the component because a rigid mount would be just as likely to fail and would make the unit impossible to repair (the silicone will hold the component securely but will also be ale to e removed should the componenet need replacing.

the comp. you got it from was the manuf. that is the office of planet audio that is there used / rebuild sales side when a dealer sends in a amp for repair they have the opion to have the rebuild or new most pick new and so the rebuilds get sold on ebay.

look at the sales add.

here is planet audio's add.

Yeah the glue or silicone (I always thought most companies used hot-melt glue as mentioned) isn't a big deal. May not look that nice but it doesn't really mean it's poorly made or that anything's wrong with it, per se. The glue is non-electrical and just serves to stabilise/mount the components securely, as was mentioned.

PS: Cute cat in the first pic!

I hooked this amp up today and it's a beast. Push's the R's to there max potential thats for sure. This amp does not get hot at all running 1 ohm.

I'm feeding it 2ga. from a 1/0 distro block. This is amp is actually very effeciant compared to a 1501bd rockford amp that I had in the past. I hardly see any voltage drops, even on long low notes.

It's crazy how loud this setup get's. I was at the gas station and decided to turn it up quite a bit and it started vibrating the hell outta the roof of the gas station. It's a Super Pumper about 20 pumps and they are all coverd by one roof about 30feet up. This roof of the gas station was making a ton of noise and all you heard from my truck was clean low bass and no rattles from the vehicle.... I heart dynamate xtreme //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I highly reccomend this amp to others. Oh ya the gain is just a lil over half on it, till I break in the R's
