pics of the 8ft^3 box with 158 sq in. of port

round the edges of the port up inside and outside.. also if ur gonna carpet round the edges on the outside..makes it look alot better if u ask me. get that baby caulked and put in.
how would i do that? i mean i know you could use a router, but i dont have one...would i just use sand paper? cause thats gonna take forever wont it?

jelly: nah man, subs firing up, port back. seems like an awesome combo in suvs from my experience. but yea, it does look kinda ugly with plain mdf BUT the thing is though, i never really cared too much for looks on the boxes as i usually like to change them every so often. not as much as a competitor, but i definatly dont make a box and keep it for a year or the life of the sub

monte: thanks man!

Going over those dimensions, how do you figure youve got 8 cubes? youve got 9.6 total internally, that port takes up a ton, ~3.5 cubes if its 33 long, 39.5 wide, and 4 high. Seems like you are tuned to ~40 hz.

yea utility knife will work just to cut the sharp corner off..belt sanders can be had fairly cheap at lowes..black and decker one is like $50.. one of the things i use most when im building a box besides my table and jigsaw. take a look at the one project by req for his brother..rounded corners look very nice when done right and she would be done on the port either way cause it stops some noise.

****!!! hahahahah i just got ****ed over. i just noticed that when i calculated i calculated 17.5 instead of 39.5. ohhh **** me all that hard work for nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

help me figure out what im tuned to moe. the port walls combined are actually 25.5 inches long.

looks like im not gonna bother carpeting this one either hahah

i do it right its just that this time the port goes side to side and all my other designs the port goes up and down so i used heigth in the calulations instead of width. i almost ****ed up the cuts when i made the cut sheet cause i used height then i remembered and changed it to width at the last second

not necessarily. you could either add to the port length, or fill up the port with pieces of MDF to decrease the port area.

im just gonna finish up the box right now, put it in and test it. hopefully it sounds OK and not like complete shit

oh gotcha! that makes more sence now...i was trying to figure out how you got so much port area with such a short port! in the pic the port only looked like 5 inches long, but it really wraps around the bottom. but either way...tough break w/ the box:(

funny you should say that...i took out my sx's today. anyone remember that the motor assembly completly disattached from 1 of my sx's a while ago? well i check them today and the motor assembly is loose on the OTHER sx that i got in the original shipment. back to re i guess...

that will be an excellent spl box but i doubt it will sound too great. should peak right around 51 hz in your X. its ~5.4 cubes @ 42-43 hz if i calculated right... kinda hard w/o all the info lol
