pics of the 8ft^3 box with 158 sq in. of port

yea it doesnt look like it has enough bracing or enough screws.
hes got plenty screws... although wood glue is best. If you use wood glue, the box is just as strong without any screws in it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how many sheets of MDF?
how many sheets of mdf? well i used 2 but since i work at lowes i managed to pull off sayin i only used 1. it would be a lot harder for a customer to do that.

as far as how the box is holdin up: the top is not on yet and i AM going to put in bracing of course. i have 1.5 inch dowels that i just need to cut to size. but as far as the glue issue i used gorilla glue on the box like i said, and after about 5 hours its leakin over the edges just a bit...lol ok maybe more than a bit. but it seems PLENTY strong

how much easier/harder is it doing this kind of port? eh, its all about the same. only harder part is tryin to find somethign to hold up the port when your screwin it in since you gotta screw the port in from the side instead of from the top and bottom. gravity helps with that kinda of port but with this kind of port its a LITTLE more difficult but not much at all.

what are you covering with?
post specs here: http://www.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=79417&page=5 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
what am i covering it with? hmm i dont know. ive built like 6 ported boxes now and i havnt covered any of them. i really wanted to do carpet on this one i guess but im gonna need to get some sand paper to get rid of the gorilla glue on the sides or im gonna have a bumpy carpet job. give me a little while and ill one up you on the specs, ill scan in my design sheet. and if some one wants to do the same enclosure all they have to do is figure out the cutsheet. i had it but i dont remember it.

as for bracing, i just put in 2 1.5" dowels in the box. should hold it self together pretty darn good i think. im also gonna take a comparison shot just to show how big this bastard is.

heres an updated picture and comparison shot as well as the design sheet with all the math bs. the dimensions are in the upper left starting with interior then the = sign going to the exterior. has gross volume in there at 9.6 cubes, port area, and all that good stuff

looks pretty big.

so the port and the subs are gonna be on opposite sides?

you should paint that port before you put the face on.

either way...you paint it or carpet it...a wood colored port looks ugly:(

AND spraypainted ports add 3db!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

looks good though, i like
