~Pics of Raamat & Speakers~

I mounted my speakers to MDF... first off because the cheap platic casing that holded the factory speaker was too small for my JBL's. Also, I needed the mouting depth to be deeper and not hit the window track. But if none of these are your problems.... MDF is stronger than most factory baffles which could yield better midbass, and MDF has easier mounting options for a speaker.Hope that helped and answered your question.

Answered my question perfectly.I asked because I have an 02 Tacoma and I was wondering if it might be better to mount them differently.
Yeah. I don't know about the '02 tacoma but the '99 and '00 4runner's I have owned have all had cheap baffles. I would just make a MDF baffle if I were you. They are easy to make (jigsaw), and won't hurt anything. If anything, It will improve your midbass.
