PICS!! 1997 Expedition Competition Build..

I am doing a build right now for a local (kinda dumb) comp next friday.. its called Midnight mayhem in Cordova Dragway in Cordova Illinois.. they use a crap mic the SPLmeter.com mic.. which isn't very accurate but have seen close numbers compared to the TL.. anyways.. I have a small honda civic that I can fit ONE of my Immortals in.. so whether its "ghey" or not.. im going to use my moms ride.. Her 1997 Ford Expedition.. lots of room after taking the 3rd seat out, and will be easy to put some decent numbers up..

These are the older immortals, not the chrome flame crap.. whether or not people think it makes a difference, I think it does.. these are some monsters, and I got a steal on both of them, so I am happy with what they do. I don't try and go cheap, but I felt obligated.. I have had real quality stuff like 4 AA Havoc 15s, etc.. I just can never make up my mind..

I hit 143.1 in the kick, and 141.9 on the dash with one in my civic on the splmeter.com mic.. (140.8 with the new TL on windshield).. so I wanna see if bigger boxes, and 2 of them will produce higher numbers..

I have only a couple pics because its late right now (just traced out the pieces) but will be cutting tomorrow when I get up.. On to the pics!!

Man, sorry but unless that expy is deadened, i dont think that it will be that high of a number, i did a 18Xxx in a 9 cube box once and the roof just like turned into sheetmetal lol

thanks for your input man, I really do appreciate it.. I am going to attemp it still, like I said this comp is kinda pointless, a lot of stupid kids running their mouths basically, and the show is for like races, but they have a small db drag.. highest this year WAS me at 143.1, but some kid hit like 145.2 with 4 hifonics 12s in a truck.. not sure all the specs, but we will see.. not expecting anything outrageous but this is on a crappy mic, might be able to pull it off tuning high... what did you tune the XXX at? just curious.. thanks again man..

* We never really have ANYTHING for comps, shows, etc around here and they do this the last Friday of every month like May-Aug. so its worth going down and showing the locals whats up (at least try)

I definetly understand where your coming from.. I love those lows... I had 2 Avalanche 15s in my lumina when they first came out and I had them suckers tuned at 28hz.. I miss nothing more than those back then.. I plan on tuning these to around 50 give or take... im still messing with numbers but the crap at this comp is you HAVE to play the 45-55hz sweep so its "fair" to everyone.. ugh ..

haha yea i kno.. thats why I might be shooting for in the middle.. I hit a 142.0 on the dash when I tuned my box at 58 compared to when it was tuned at 32 (141.9) so nothing of an increase there.. but on the TL in the same spot.. I hit a 136.8 at 32 on the windshield, and 140.8 at 58.. the mic down there is crap, and with the frequencies I HAVE to play.. I don't think helps either.. so tuning in the middle should help? or am I completely wrong?

Yea, which I have also heard, but being that they HAVE to play a 45-55hz sweep, I was wondering if tuning in the sweep frequencies is better, or if just tuning where itll peak the highest is best (58hz or so)..

cool build.

did you cut that with a laser? otherwise the sawblade takes out a 1/16th of an inch, and your pieces wont be perfect.

also, what speaker is that?

audiobahn doesn't make anything that beefy?

You probably won't be the loudest around tuning. I would tune around 45hz or so and you should peak around 50-55hz. If you tune around 50hz, you may peak higher than 55hz which will hurt your overall run.
