Currently running four JL 10W6 in a nice ported custom box I built. Forget tuning, bought plans and built it.Pair of JL 1000/1 powering them. Wanting more.

Planning on keeping same amps but some bigger subs. Have about 14cf space to work with, maybe a touch more. Want good SQL. Two 18s? Couple 15s? Talk to me! Will call the budget 1000$. Was planning on doping a quarter T line for my four 10"w6 but now entertaining the idea of more cone area! Realize a T line may be out. Will build box myself, very capable. Want to do a hair trick of course like everyone else but aqlso want good sound quality. I listen to it all. Thanks for any feedback!

2000 watts. In amps you might want some lower powered subs you could do a set if xfl 18s or dc lvl 4. 18s. They'd prolly do nicely if you go 15s then 3 subs in that space. But what I would do is sell the jl amps and subs. Get a pair of -8s and a bigger amp to run them. Like the hdd 15s and a 5k amp but you'll the the electrical to back it

To be honest I have never even heard a air of 18's! Gotta hear em sometime, may as well be my own right! As far as musicality goes will there be a difference in 18" versus 15"? I am jacked about going bigger. Feel good about my electrical system. Will add a battery or extra runs if needed if I did decide to go bigger on my sub amp.

The alt is fine. An extra battery won't hurt either. But the tantrics hd would be good. If I can get Ron to build one. Usually only 15s and smaller in the hd. But the dc or xfl do come in 18s

Hdds or shds on 2k ..holy waste of subs lol
Higher power subs are still usually louder than lower powered subs even at lower power levels. Bigger sub usually has more motor force and is efficient at lower levels instead of over heating coils at high power levels and inevitably going into power compression.

think tc sounds 4inch coiled subs. Can they take 2k+ yes prolly all day but do they need that to still get loud no not particularly. Especially in a bigger box where you can gain a little more efficiency

As far as musical output of a 18 vs 15vs 12 vs 10 it all depends on the driver u buy and box that is built around it ...i think a pair of 1krms 18s woul be good on that power...and as far as upgrading batteries or extra runs or alts...if u go to 3k and up ur gona need to make some more reserve..how much power were u planning on bumping up to?

Trust me i know that too well i run a pair of hdc4s on 4k.went from dd3512s to the hdc4s and they were louder even tho im only tickling them.i was just saying no way id waste a grand on a pair of subs without the intent of pushing those bishes...just not practical

Good news is I can upgrade my amps whenever. I can go better with power handling on my subs, build my box perfectly for the subs, then if its just not enough grab some more wattage.
Then a pair of 18" tantric hdds or soundqubed hdc4 18s is what id do ..then bump the power to 6k and add some wire and batts

Just checked out the HDIC4 you were referring to. The 15 has a Fs of 39 or so HZ. With an SD of 125" I would have enough room to go with a quarter T line for a pair. I have enough room to go with any pair of 15 with an Fs of 30 or so. I will need to figure this into my choice as well. I am excited about trying out the T line.

Of course OP buying a huge amp would require big electrical upgrades. Cone area and efficient box would be far more bang for the buck once you're at 2000W.

I can build up and ship you 3X Shocker Sig 15's for 1000$. d 2.8 coils. You could run each amp to 3 coils in parallel for roughly 1ohm load for each amp. Sig 15's go really nice in 5 cube each.
