Ok, after squeak set me straight about three way (I still don't know why three way is bad) I discovered there is good cheap power available nowadays. So much so that I'm asking you to pick my purchase. What I have is an Alpine CDE 9845, type R 6 1/2 comps front, Pioneer premiere 6x9s 3 ways back, and an old RF audiophile 12 sealed. This is in my 94 deville.
I listen to all types of music except rap and pop (radio country, rock and other watered down piss). I'm after SQ. So, why do so many say no need for rear speakers? Aren't some tracks recorded so as to utilize the front to rear aspect?
I'm thinking either keep my punch 40 dsm for the rear speakers, and get an old school 4 channel dsm with more juice to bridge one channel for the sub and power the fronts with. Then I can get a connector cap and have the one amp look. Or, sell my punch on egay, and use that money to buy a five or six channel amp.
So,
1. Get another old school punch or go with a five or six channel (budget uder $200)
2. If you vote for 5 channel, I'm considering the viper, directed, ppi 800.5, someone has a jbl that claims 60 rms, and I think their is a kicker out there that had the specs I'm looking for. I'm wanting at least 70 rms actual at 4 ohms and 200 bridged for the sub. Also, I'm buying refurb, that's why I picked these brands.
3. My final upgrade to this will be to replace my rear deck speakers (6x9 holes), what do you recomend?
Thanks for the help.
