Phoenix Gold RSD's... BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!

so I called to change my order from a kicker zx 350.4 to a 650.4 to power the rsd comps up front and coax's in the back. The guy at audiosavings.com told me that it might be too much power since they are only rated at 60 watts and that I should stick with the 350.4. Is he way off?

I have a zx700.5 that will be going to my set.

I'll run them regularly at first and then may try my hand at bridging the amp. I would like to reserve my rear channels for the rear speakers so I can turn off the on-board amp of the Alpine HU. But we'll see.

get the bigger amp or bridge the smaller amp.
they love power. i have a ZX550.2 on mine.
Thats what I figured. He made me think that the zx 350.4 powering all 4 speakers would sound better than bridging it all up front. So now I need to decide wether to get the zx550.2 or just bridge the zx350.4.

Thanks for all the input tcguy85, I've learned alot from reading your posts in my searches.

well i only run fronts, do you want rear fill?

and thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i try!

I thought it would be nice to have good sq in the rear also, but I dunno anything about this stuff so I'm just going off what I learn here. Should I just play it safe and get the zx650.4 to power all four?

If I decide I want to get a sub later, I could just power the rear off the hu and use the zx650.4 bridged to one sub? Or is this not a good amp for a sub?

Would love to try them out for my 4runner.. somthing cheap and nice.. But descriptions like "crispness in the highs and mids" Makes me shy away. I have heard that term to many times from CDT owners and when I hear there systems, tears come to my eyes from the harsh overbearing highs.
I apologize for making you think that lol... What I mean is just that they are definitely audible and clear and crisp in that they keep up with the music exceptionally well. My stock tweeters were brighter than the RSD's. And the crossovers for the RSD's have a switch in them to boost the tweets 2dB's above the mids, but I left mine at neutral and they haven't had my ears ringing yet!

And I'm feeding each door with 150wrms.

it's all up to you. i prefer not having rear fill. but this can only really be done if you have a lot of power going to the fronts. also if you have a big car it might not work out as well too. you could run comps and a sub off of the ZX650.4 if you want. for some reason i just like to have 2 seperate bigger amps.

TBH, I wouldn't worry ONE bit about rear fill. Once you get a sub, that will take care of it. Having anything but midbass woofers in the back is a mistake. If you try to run tweets back there you'll throw off your whole soundstage. I have these in the front doors and the stock rears faded almost completely out. Sounds great!

the stock tC tweeters are deffinetly brighter and more harsh. i thought that was because of where they were mounted but i think kidwolf has the rsd tweets in the stock locations, correct?

the rsd tweets are anything but harsh. i found a lil harshness on certain material in the 2k-3.5k range that i EQed out a tad but i think thats more the mids than the tweeters fault.

and they do like to be in the 150watt per side power range.

Yessir, I have the tweets in the stock location in the door panels near the sail. I have them angled in their mounting cup to point right at the center of the vehicle with a little bias toward the driver seat. And I just use the "Powerful" EQ on mine with the second from left band down 1 notch from the preset.

sigh...I'm so torn as to what to do. Maybe I'll just keep the factory rears powered by the HU and get a good 2ch amp for the comps.

How important is sound deadening?
