I just got my new RSD 6.5 components installed and have listened to them all weekend. I gotta say that I was VERY skeptical of an 87 dollar comp set. But I can say, with a whole lot of honesty, that these things sound better than most sets upwards of $500!!! The build design and quality of this set is beyond exceptional for what you are getting. Your getting mids with interwoven tensile leads, a flat liner roll spider, and bumped back plat all housed in a sexy powder coated frame!
Over the last 4 months I have tried the following speakers: JL Audio XR 6.5, CDT HD 6.5 with the 560 crossovers, and now the RSD 6.5's. The RSD's absolutely walk all over the others. The CDT's can hang with them in the vocal range, but the RSD's have more midbass. The difference is night and day between this set and any other set I've heard!
I am running this set off the passive crossovers at 125 watts RMS per side, and have the speakers mounted in my doors. The doors are sealed and deadened with second skin. For the money, these speakers cannot be touched. You would have to spend 4 or 5 times the cost of this set to have anything remotely comparable. Phoenix Gold really did their homework on this set and it paid off in a big way- they are breathtaking!!
