We used the factory grilles and knocked the center out and mounted the tweet directly over the mid.

Can this be done without damaging the factory grill?

On my car I am still debating where to mount the tweets. I was thinking of flush mounting them into the grille on the door panel which, yes in my case would require me to cut into the grille. My car isn't worth much anyway so I'm not too worried about it though.
