Phasing the tweeters (sq comp coming)

I got a Sq comp coming soon. And i want to be sure everything is phased ok.

All I have to check the tweeters phase are 1 second track on pinknoise in and out of phase. With my indoor tweeters placement, it seems more difficult to find the right staging than with the tweeter in the a pillar.

I was wondering if there was other test available to help with that. So far, everything is phase correctly with the + / - on the crossover. Mids seems ok, but not quite sure about the tweeters.

also, any idea on how to win that comp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif any tracks to help me out with the global tuning of the system?

go and listen and do not compete.

it ain't a serious comp.... local friendly comp.... but with Trophyz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I can't see myselft winnign anything competiting with dudes with mcintosh headunit and mcinstosh amps

I just hope all the work i put out won't let me down. I guess i'll learn alot there.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Um, have a little more confidence in yourself. "dudes with mcintosh headunit and mcinstosh amps" doesn't mean jack shit.

what rules will they be using or what organzation ?

General advice for ANY competition (car stereo, sports, racing, etc ..):

1) Get the rule book or score sheet and READ it thoroughly (if you don't know how you will be evaluated or what criteria will be used - you will most often lose badly)

2) Decide what class, category, field or whatever you will be in or want to be in

3) Design the system or object or training or whatever for that specific class, category, etc ..

I beat guys using equipment that is worth 10 times what mine is. Best equipment in the world can't make up for piss poor tuning my man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

fixed.

Sound Quality!

This ring a bell?

So i just wanted to know if you think that Sound Quality in Substage is overrated ... compare to the mids/high sound quality. I mean, everything sound so much more detailed on my new frontstage, you can push it without being harsh even at incredible loud level, while the sub sound nice... but nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I expected more "clarity" ... still some bass line sound like sit (ie go getta from jeezy 2nd album... wtf is that??? )

I tough an sq sub would make every line sound perfect //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif It does sound a little better than the R, but mainly only deeper and lower

Bassline in that track still sound akward no matter what equipment i'm using.
nice investigation dude, i gotta admit i'm impress
NO sub can make shit music sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I've never noticed ANY diff changing phase on my tweets....reversing phase on pass mid makes a bigg diff in my set up.

Use a recording w/ a good center image vocal. With your other speakers disconnected, flip the polarity of one of the tweets. If the image sounds more diffused, swap the polarity of one of the tweets again (either one, it doesn't matter). If the image sounds more focused, leave it be for the time being. Do the same for the mids...except add one more step & flip the polarity of both mids (after you found a focused center image) to see if there's any improvement in midbass. If it improved, leave it. If it didn't, flip the polarity of both mids again. Then hook up the mids/tweets, in respect to the polaritys that sounded best, & give them a little critical listening time w/ some familiar music. Now flip the polarity of both tweets & put in a little more critical listening time. If they sound more natural, leave it. If they sound more separated, flip the polarity of both tweets again. Finally, see which polarity setting works best on your sub(s), to blend in with the acoustical phase of your fronts.
