phase?

Ok so I was setting my gains the other day and did everything except for the phase. I have no idea what the phase is and its purpose and the best place to set it at. I have a 12" L7 wired at 1 ohm with a hifonics BX1205. Can someone plase help me?

if it is at zero, then it will be in phase (given that everything is wired correctly) and if you put it on 180, then it reverses the phase. like wiring it + to - instead of + to +.

Phase reverses the connection on your speaker so it pulls instead of pushes and vice versa when it gets a signal from the amp. When you read about people telling someone to check the wiring because they get no output with dual woofers, they mean one woofer might be wired out of phase and canceling the frequencies.

From what I have read, it is best too leave your amp bass eq at 1 too?
