Phase Nob

Alright, my set up;

P580MP

BXi2006D

2 D4 12" Type Rs

in prefab (I know) slot port box

Looking for information on the Phase (0-160) adjustment on my amp.

I have been very dissappointed with the R's, I should be pushing upwards of 500 rms apiece, and I hear all these great things about how loud they get.

Anyway, yesterday I moved the Phase nob on my amp from 0 to about 35-40ish. The results were amazing, it is so much louder than before.

What exactly does the nob do?

If they're both wired to the same amp the phase adjustment will affect both equally making its use in that situation pointless. The opint of phase adjustment on the sub is to get the subs in phase with teh midbasses and minimize cancellation in that freq range.

^I found this while searching, if this is true, why did it affect my subs output? Am I doing something wrong?

The phase knob adjusts the polarity of the driver.

If you set it to 180, the cone of your sub would be moving out as your other speakers would be moving in.

So it would reduce cancellation? Which is why I hear more bass?

so should the phase be set at 0 or what should it be set at if its in a ported enclosure

If everything is wired correctly, just leave it at 0. You can try it at 180 and see what it sounds like though, won't hurt anything.
