PG Tantrum 1200.1 VS JL 1000/1

Hey guys, I just got a JL 500/1 and a JL12W7 with a ported box in a few weeks ago. The sub is not as loud as I expected it to be, so I think I am going to get a 1000 watt amp. Putting the cost of the amp on the side, which one is better between the two? Thanks!

All I know about the tantrum's is there underrated

I would say the JL is a much better amp. I have had great luck with them and love the way they sound. I havent had good results with any of the newer phoenix gold amps.

I didnt say new, I said 'newer' as in after mps, ms, zp series, etc. nor did I say they were bad amplifiers. I would recomend a 1000/1 over a tantrum though, especially if money is not a problem

the 1000/1 will give u exactly what u ask out of it. Nothing more nothing less, the pg will definitly give you more power, but the JL puts out its the same power at different ohms, so if you decide to switch subs in the future, vc configs arent a problem.

If you only need 1000-1100watts and the money isnt a problem, go with the JL

If you want the extra watts and are set on your sub, go with the pg.

having owned both amplifiers... i've SEEN that my JL 1000/1 kicked the crap out of the PG. i always thought PG was overrated, while the JL puts out well over 1k. it easily keeps up with a kicker kx1200.1, or sx1250.1... FYI

i'd say if money isnt a factor go for the JL.
