Persuasive speech suggestions...

i did a persuasive speech last year in communications, the topic was persuading people to switch their homes over to solar energy. there was a lot of info on the topic, so it was an easy write up.

at the end people were supposed to ask questions and sorta talk about the topic and i had by far the most amount of questions asked. just an easy topic overall to talk about and a lot of interest in it.

Hmmm... thinking about alternative energy...

I know a hot topic round here is lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18. Something else might be using cell phones or texting while driving. A couple of days ago some teen hit a cop directing traffic and killed her. (the cop) I'm pretty sure texting was involved, so it's been a pretty popular topic round here too.

I've had to do a couple persuasive speeches. But, my favorite one was on why Outsourcing is helpful to America and our economy. The day that I went 3 people did why outsourcing was harmful to America. They got Bs & a C I got an A. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Basically, my points were along the lines of financial savings for company which translates to employee and customer benefits, foreign worker training is higher than worker training in USA, quality of products if managed properly can actually be higher with foreign outsourced products, and relational benefits of global economy.

A few kids in my class wouldn't talk to me after I presented my topic... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

it was a good thing it was a persuasive speech and not an argumentative debate style or folks would have picked j00r ******* apart in under 2 minutes.

Please, tell me, my good ma'am, how can the quality be higher with foreign outsourced products given the same proper management? Assuming that you're talking about an American ran company, i.e., an American managed company, how does a company's global position affect "proper management"?

How do the alleged "employee and customer benefits" effect the global economy? By removing work from the #1 consuming nation in teh world you're adversely affecting their overall ability to consume. Today's economy should tell j00 that when Uncle Scam ain't happy, teh world ain't happy.

I'm now thinking about music distribution...

And how the music industry needs to re-think their methods and the RIAA needs to chill out... etc...

Most people don't mind paying for music... etc...

Wow I can defiantly tell already that even if I presented the facts, numbers, statistics, and cited sources you wouldn't listen.

So, I'm not going to bother.

I am just going to say one thing. Several of the articles and studies that I quoted talked about quality of work. In many of the offshore cases employees doing a task were better educated and more willing to undergo new training to better preform their job vs. their american counterpart. They also, had less 'sick days', a generally more productive plant, and the people showed they had a more competent understanding of the task they needed to complete.

So STFU... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Spinning off of that you could also talk about DRM which the best solution would be stop treating paying customers as criminals.
