Peerless HDS mids and power question

So, I just got my HDS mids installed yesterday finally, and am powering them with a Cadence Tx-3004. I tried running them off just 2 channels of the amp, but felt they could take plenty more. So, I bridged the amp (300x2) and they don't seem to get hardly any louder?? What gives? Power compression? Don't get me wrong, they're rediculously loud. But, I've got the gain almost all the way up, and they seem to be taking it with ease, and they aren't even sealed. Are these just really that badass??

Which HDS? There's three different models, and what size?

It also could be that your amp is just over rated, or....aren't all the HDS 8ohm drivers anyway?
Nope, these ones are 4 ohm HDS's. ~7". I got them from PE, they were only available for a limited time. I'll post a link when I get home from work to specs.

Gotcha, didn't see that one in google.

Anywho. I had the 8ohm version about two years ago, powered off anywhere from 90-100 watts, and they cranked.

Are you just disappointed that you didn't get a huge difference when swapping from 4 channel mode to bridged?

Do you have any way to measure the power output from the amp? It could be that the amp is over rated. I know everyone had a boner over the cheap prices of those Cadence amps, but I've never seen (or at least that I can remember) someone measure the real world output of one.

I don't really have any way of testing the amp. I mean, I have a DMM, but thats it. And yes, more or less just curious why I didn't get a big change in output when I bridged the amp. Overall i LOVE how they sound. Need to work on their install a little bit. Search my sn, I posted an excursion video yesterday in my build thread. Once I get a couple install issues worked out, I'll start playing with the EQ and time alignment.

I spoke with JasonPaul awhile abck too, who said when he was bench testing the TXA series, the 3004 seemed to do right at rated power, 70-80 watts rms per channel.

The kick is 'almost' sealed. It is vented down into the chassis, but it's basically a rectangular channel that has some holes in it that were used for mounting carpet, etc. I need to finish completely sealing it off. But, I can basically make it any size I need. I can keep that channel open for 3' if I need to, or I can seal it off near the kick itself. Was thinking of just shooting foam in there to seal it off. And no, no deadening inside. A majority of thats inside there is structural steel, so I dind't think it was necessary. Even if, I'd never get my hands in there.

I don't know how much the HDS you're using from what I've used, but mine liked either ported enclosures or IB for a nice level response, I wouldn't seal up the kick IMO.

Only deadening I would do behind the speaker would be on the flat panels, 25% coverage should do the trick. Plus a little MLV or some type of closed cell foam back there to tame reflections (because you're getting plenty I can promise you that), should help clear up the midrange a good bit.

I doubt I'll be able to get much or any deadener in there, but I'll throw some foam in there, I have some somewhere still I think. Thanks for the tips.

Well, I just went for a 45 minute drive at mostly full volume, and the cadence thermal'd. Mids feel fine, barely warm at all. The amp, however, is blistering hot to the touch :/

Great mids with lots of cooling to handle plenty of wattage. However, they don't need too much to do what they do. I've installed a pair bridged off an old alpine 4 channel and they get plenty loud.

I would swap out that amp.

That certainly does not ease my mind. I have another cadence amp (A7+HC) that also has to be sent in for repair.....
