4" components

Working on my first build in a long time. Slowly putting together a new system for my 2007 Silverado extra cab.

I am looking at a partial passive/active front stage consisting of tweeters and 4" mids in kick panels ( passive set ) ran off my Zapco reference 350 (100w x 2)

and 6 1/2" to 7" mid bass's in the doors ( active ) ran off my MB Quart PAB 2100 ( 100w x 2 ). I am using my trusty alpine CDA-7897 into an audio control four.1i and then into a 6xs.

I am eye balling some 6 1/2" dynaudio's and seas lotus reference mid bass for the doors.( found some good deals on ebay i am watching)

Looking for recommendations for a passive set on the tweets and mids. i would say my budget is around $300 - $400. I listen to mainly heavy metal, any thoughts?

For dedicated midbass duty, roughly playing from 80hz (or lower, your choice) up to 250-300hz, the Peerless SLS 6.5 IMO is impossible to beat, especially at around 45 each.

As far as 4" components go, IF you can get them, Pioneer makes a 4" PRS set that is supposed to be fantastic. Only issue is that they aren't sold stateside, which means if you have international friends, or can find one on European eBay, you should be good.

Thanks for the input! I have been doing some research and the peerless sls seems to be a crowd favorite and at $45.00 each it seems they cant be beat.

I will do some research on the pioneer speakers you mentioned but if i cant get them fairly easily then my search goes on. Still looking for recommendations to fit my application.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

For 4" the HAT L4 or one of the Hertz or Focal offerings.IMO

The SLS is a good choice and a steller price point. One of the best bang for the buck midbass out there.

I have read a lot about the hertz speakers and have been pointed that direction before. is there an on line retailer someone can link me to? I don't seem to have a dealer near me, most of them carry the generic crap like car toys.

I have had focal stuff in the past and just feel they are to expensive for what you really get and i blew both the tweeters that i felt were to bright. So i am not much of a focal fan at the moment.

Since i will probably be crossing the Mid Bass over at 250hz is a 4" mid going to be ok going that low or should i look into a 5 1/4 for an easier transition?

They do not sell online at all. Some of the 4" will some will not.

The L4 I run down to 140hz for comps. and daily at 200hz. So I know the HAT L4 will be fine at 250hz.

IMO the Hertz would be fine down to 250hz with no issues also. If you have no dealer in your area you can call them directly or a dealer and they can help you out. I have like all the Hertz stuff I have.

There is also the CDT 4" I have ran their stuff and the 4" will go down to 200hz without issues.

I just do not prefer the midrange sound of the CDT.

Out of all the one's I have used or am using the HAT is the most versitale for band width and best sounding to me. Some people are running them without a tweeter also. So 200-250hz on up with no LP x-over on the top end.

I have talked to representatives of Hybrid and they have pointed me in the direction of a local shop. I will use these with no tweeters in my kick panels.

Thanks man!
