anyways this is my first custom pc...first one Ive ever "built"

CPU: AMD Phenom 9850BE (gonna OC it) w/factory HSF using Arctic Silver 5 compound

RAM: 4GB GSkill PC8500 (gonna up it to 8GB soon)

GPU: eVGA 9800GT SC

PSU: Silverstone 700W

MOBO: ASUS M3N78 Pro

HD: Seagate 7200.11 500GB

CD/DVDRW: LiteOn

Case; NZXT Alpha w/extra Thermaltake 120mm fan

umm is the fan on the GPU spinning? also what vid card is it?

EDIT: missed that in the OP, make sure you plugged in both of the PCI E power cords, as i recall the NVIDA based ones have 2 power ports

do you have another video card you can try with? if you do and still no output there may be an issue with the motherboard.

Everything powers on; CPU heatsink fan, both case fans, the motherboard system LED powers on green (system on), everything. Just no video...

other thing would be to unplug everything but the MOBO, CPU and RAM, then power up and listen for error beeps.

does your case have a speaker and did you plug that in to the MOBO, there should be one beep if everything is o.k. and do you know the monitor works?

Make sure your video card is seated properly. Take it out (computer off) and put it back in. And if it is a high end card, make sure that you have poower going to it from your power supply.

Thats what i said and if i remember correctly the NVIDA ones required 2 PCI E power cords from the PSU, but i run ATI so i'm not 100% on that

I'm the opposite.......lol. Last ATI card I owned was a 9200SE or something like that. I got an eVga 8800GT superclocked now. One da I will actually use it. I was thinking that or he has it in the wrong pci-e slot if that's possible. Not sure if ou are running one card does it have to be in a specific pci-e slot.
