Partial Active on 3-Way

Hey all, I've been gathering information and options on my next component set for nearly a month now (I can't afford to switch my setup every month). Although I'm not 100%, I'm leaning towards maybe a 3 way and I wanted to run active. How about if I was to run my Mid&Tweeter passive and then the 6.5 on a separate channel. I'm assuming that would work. Anyone have experiences with this or suggestions? Things I should know before doing this?

(Looking at HSK165s, HSK163s, Morels, trying to keep the comps around $250 or less)

Also, does anyone have a link off hand with some good a-z information on an active setup. Looking to try something new to me.

Thanks

Should work fine. I am getting some Type X hardware off a member on another forum. Ill have

2 crossovers

4 midbass

2 midrange

2 tweeters

These crossovers wont handle all those speakers though so I am going to have to use an active crossover as well.

As for a website for info.... no idea.

so are you planning on using 6channels or 8 for that?

also I have a kenwood excelon KDC X791

still in early research stages, but how will that work with this potentially active setup
