There is a very large multitude of shallow mount subwoofers on the market.

Clarion, Pioneer, Illusion Audio, Critical Mass, Kicker, Earthquake, Phase Linear, Tang Band, eD, Aura, Altomobile and soon JL all offer shallow mount subwoofers.

And those are just off the top of my head.

Blaupunkt made one as thick as an AA battery and it wasnt a total piece of junk.

Kickers new line of low profile subs are getting great reviews.. although they have high space requirements when it comes to box size.. kinda defeats the purpose.

What I'm dealing with is...putting a 'ceiling' board in the rear area of my '73 'Vette

and only have room for an 8" with 3 1/2" max depth and not finding much that fit those requirements.

This should do what you want. 2.5" monting depth.

I have used these in a few installs and have been very impressed with them. It must have been the shitty store install.

you're the first person i have heard of that didn't like that sub. i have never heard it myself, but i have only heard good things about it. i'm sure it's not all that loud, maybe they were overpowering it?
