painted my car today... pics

i got laid off yesterday so i decided i was going to take the weekend to finally paint my car. went and bought primer, sealer, paint and clear, and came home and started doing the body work.

turns out there was a lot more body work than i thought there was going to be. everytime i'd grind out a little bit of surface rust, i'd hit bondo that was there and then there was rust under the bondo.

what was only supposed to be a weekend job, ended up looking like it was going to be more like a week long job, and unfortunately the weather in michigan won't cooperate with that because it's getting too cold to paint.

so i ground out all of the rest i could find, went up to the hardware store and bought 3 cans of gloss black spraypaint and just rattlecanned it so the rust wouldn't come back while it's stored for the winter.

thanks. it's almost done. i feel like i should have it done in the next year or two. i already did a new engine and *****, so now it runs like new, now all that's left is interior, dropped suspension, and paint and it will be where i want it.

you still have a vw? edit: just looked at your sig. anything done with your golf?

ahh i have avs turned off from when everybody had those big annoying avs. i'll turn them on real quick and take a look.

It's the slow one so no motor mods just a bunch of stereo stuff! Can't break anything too expensive with speakers, but I have a heavy foot so I'm glad I got the slow one! lol

Thats a pretty clean paint job. I don't see why anyone would flame on it. It looks nice as hell for some regular o' spray paint.

if you made it worth my while and paid materials and transpo i would because i just got laid off.

by the time you pay for my gas(can't fly otherwise i won't have my sprayguns and tools), buy my materials and throw some money at me, you might as well have just gone to a shop or looked on craigslist lol

that's just rattlecan.

it looks good until you get up close. then you can see some drips in a couple places because it was only 50 out today and there's no way for me to reduce or thin out spray paint, so i just said fuck it and did a 1 coat job.

but it looks 100x better than it did with a blue hood, primer spots all over and surface rust. i'll only be driving it for a couple more weeks before i store it for winter anyway.
