David Stern is a dick. I've always disliked him and always will. Next time someone goes to a game and Stern is in the stands, throw a cup of beer at him and see his reaction. Or better yet, get a group of people throwing shit at him and see what he does. That guy has no idea what those players went through, he's just using Artest as an example instead of admitting what the real problem is, security. I don't like Artest, and two wrongs don't make a right, but 20 games would have been sufficient. Fans are out of control at sporting events these days, and you can't put the entire blame on the players.

he got one beer thrown at him. he should've went to an official or a security person and said hey someone threw shit at me and they will go remove the fan and punish him accordingly. instead he took the law into his own hands and ran into the stands going against hundreds of people.

He was assaulted, the cup and beer hit him in his upper chest/neck or lower face area. That deserved an *** whoopin. I know a girl that got charged with assault for throwing a styrofoam cup at someone with nothing in it. Fans think they can do whatever they want just because they paid $$, that guy certainly wouldn't go throwing a cup of beer at someone on the street. He would have gotten it worse than he did.

i agree nothing should've been thrown at him, but when you are a professional player you should expect to be heckled and have shit thrown at you. i think artest got a big suspension because of his reputation.

Yes, of course that's what he should have done, but human instinct for any man with a sack is to do something about it. Go to a bar and throw a bottle at someone, see whether he goes to the bouncer first or jacks you in the face.

Vernon Maxwell went into the stands years ago and he got 10 games if I remember correctly. Stern made an example out of the wrong person. There were fans on the court for crying out loud, that should be proof enough that Artest wasn't the main problem. If those fans hadn't thrown the beer, nothing would have happened. But Stern see's an easy way out by placing all the blame on the NBA's bad guy. He has had a reputation for singling out the NBA's bad guy. He's moved on from Rodman, to Artest. I wonder if Artest can appeal the suspension. Personally I think that an unbiased group of people should determine the suspensions.

for one thing, artest is not the president. if a cop beats your *** that's illegal. you have the person arrested. artest should've told one of the secuirity officials and they would've handled it. i'm sure artest is gonna be piss poor now. how was the fight on the court when artest ran into stands? i was at game 5 of the new jersey detroit series about 7 rows behind the new jersey series and people were throwing shit at kenyon martin and new jersey but he never ran up into the stands.

dude shit like that happens all the time. i remember watching a tigers game where they were at chicago and a fan poored about 5 beers on robert fick and he didn't run up into the stands and start shit.
