P8600MP question

Hi. Does the sub completely shut off when you select "subwofer off" on the head unit. My friend has Alpine 9855 and his completely shuts off, but my 8600 just drops the subwofer down but not off. It still hits pretty hard depending on the song. Is that normal? Just in case I am running 6 speakers + sub. Front & rear goes through JBL P80.4 + the other 2 rears are connected to the headunit's rear speaker out & sub is connected to JBL P1200.1.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

my P7600MP shut mine off completely..ok so I take it ur running a 4ch then the BP amp...so.....are they connected together with RCA's? They should have their own preouts cuz that could be the problem is ur RCA's...never used the 8600 so idnk

Thank you everyone for your answers. I'll check the wiring today, maybe i did mess it up, I tried not to cause i ran a set of RCAs for sub along one side of the car & the sets for speakers on the other. But maybe I made a mistake when switching the head units.

Yes, when you select "sub off" you're completely shutting off that set of pre outs.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This might sound weird, but i checked the wiring & rcas are all fine. Then for some reao i decide to check the ground on rca out of the head unit & it nothing at all, no reading what so ever while the unit is off, numbers just jump if on. So i ground the rcas (I know manual says not to do it) and the sub works just like it should--pounds hard & shuts off properly. Same thing happens it I ground the speaker rcas. Is this weird or what, I heard somewhere that Pioneers have problems with grounds--is this the case? Seems to me that the whole thing finds grounds in on the amps not the head unit. Is this possible?

Well my real question woul be: IS IT SAFE TO GROUND THE RCA CABLES?
