Oversized speakers - What for?

Ok I have been looking for 6.5" coax's on ebay specifically the Memphis M-Class 6.5's. Now I found a oversized 6.5" coax but im concerned if it will fit. I have 6x8 openings and have adapters coming for 6x8 to 6.5". Will an oversized 6.5" speaker fit?

But what size are they? what do they fit in?

If they dont fit in anything they there poitnless cause custom enclosures would be better suited to 8's...

Would they fit in a 6x8 opening with an adapter plate? Or would I need to cut my doors up (I am trying to avoid this if you cant tell)

the small difference probably isn't worth the risk of it not fitting

Look at the specs and if the mounting diameter exceeds what your vehicle can handle, then they won't fit. It's very rare that ever happens, though.

Thats the thing, the specs say "Oversized 6.5" I have found a couple other brands with oversized 6.5's and they are 6.75" but im just guessing at that point then. And I dont know the exact dimensions of a 6x8" hole and I dont want to take the door panel apart just to measure it.

Going by exact dimensions of 6x8" a 6.5" speaker should not fit but I bought adapter plates (which havent got here yet) that make it fit so obviously those are not the actual dimensions.... bah They are only $70 so if it doesnt fit I guess its not a huge loss...

Pioneer 6.75" speakers include a bracket to mount in 6x8" openings... so... going by that (and the fact oversized 6.5 seems to be 6.75) I am going to assume that it will fit with minor modification to the adapter plates I bought.
