Out of phase??

If my subs are out of phase does it matter which one I change?? Can I just change either one then switch the phase shift on the amp to get them going the right way? Thanks

Ok so I went out and switched both pairs of + and - wires on one sub, put it back in and it sounded alot worse. So im guessing the problem isn't them being out of phase.
