Out of ideas!!!

I am out of ideas with my speakers. Most websites say my 95 Geo Prizm's from speakers are 5.25.... well they can't be. I've went through 3 pairs of 5.25" speakers and none of them will fit, because they are too LARGE.

Now the outter edge of the cutout (where the screw slots AREN'T) is literally exactly 4.5"..... So I need to find some 4.5" speakers....... which I can't seem to do.

Any ideas?

Also, my back speaker slots are also unknown. I believe the cutout is 6"... and my 5.25" ALMOST fit in there. What's with the odd sizes? And can someone help me find speakers for the front, and possibly an adapter for the back so I can use my 5-1/4's?

Can you fit a 3/4" MDF baffle on your door to mount the speaker to? This can give you the added space you need, as allow you to fit the 5.25's instead of settling for some 4" speakers. The extra 3/4" might be able to give you enough space for you 5.25's to fit in there...if ot just cut some metal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I believe they sell some speaker baffles on ebay for a good price, and in every size you can think of.

Actually... the speakers are too big for the door where.... when I push it in as far as I can, the flaps cover up the screw holes. It's clearly too big of a speaker.

Luckily I saved a Crutchfield fit guide from an old catalog.

It says your Geo has 4" or 5" speakers (it lists both), and you have 2" depth.

The cutout is 4.5" perfectly... so would that not imply I would need a 4.5" speaker? Or... maybe I need a 4.

I wish I could just find out. But in reality, the 5.25" are not THAT much bigger. Seems like a 4.5" would work perfectly... :/

It could be 4.5, I think its written as "4,5"......but it could be a period instead of a comma, I cant tell (its tiny print).

Thanks, Im glad I did since it lists my current car and saved me some time in trying to figure things out.

No, I cut it out of a 2002 catalog.

I used a magnifying glass and it definitely says 4,5 .

Also, the other cars listed are written as 5 1/4, or 6 1/2, so its not 4.5", its either 4 or 5.

It says rear deck, and either 5 1/4 or 6 1/2, and a depth of 6".

I guess there were two optional stereos from the look of the different specs.

That is very... very odd.. :/ But why would the cutout for a 4" speaker be MORE THAN 4 INCHES? That wouldn't be very tightly sealed...

Or you could just keep the 5.25's that you have(assuming you have them), and use some speaker rings, and mount the speakers to the rings. Better than having zero midbass out of some little 4" speakers.

What speaker rings would you suggest I use...? I have tried plenty and have no clue what to do at this point.
