how do you have 8ga power wire on a 1200 watt amp? or is it 1200 watt max??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

8 gauge wire has more resistance than 0 gauge wire. From your battery and alternator up front, the voltage will drop by the time it gets to your amps, with less voltage you amps will not produce the ame amount of power/watts, it will be less.

For instance, a 1000 watt amp @ 14.4 volt will draw 71.42 amps, at 11 volts, current draw will stay the same, and the same amp will produce only 785 watts.

Assuming it is 100% efficient, but that is besides the point.

Less power, less boom.
