So i was thinking. There are lots of bass knobs and amps with clip indicators but no one really has any idea how they work.

Now im thinking strictly for bassheads and people who are playing a vast variety of bass heavy or boosted songs. You just dont know whats clipped and what recording level each song is and so on. Alot of us vet our libraries to make sure we don't have badly recorded or modified music as well but i was thinking. What if you wanted to be 100% sure all the time that you weren't sending a bad signal to your subs.

There is always the case of setting your gains at -0db but holy crap that output loss is atrocious. So what can we do.

Im thinking alot of people have a Dso Nano but the base probe wont register the higher voltage of anything like 500 rms or more. Heck, could be even lower. i'm not sure the math behind it.

Could we take one of these. Which is a 10x probe with a weird connector.

then use an adapter so it fits into our nano.

So im not sure how you'd securely mount the plug into the outputs of the sub amp but im sure there is a way. then wire cleanly and hidden to a mounted nano accessible from the driver seat, like say next to a voltage meter. At that point, you would have a constant waveform you could watch.

Is there any issue with my thought process here?

nah they measure up pretty high and come with a 100x probe thats mislabeled as a 10x probe usually. looks just like the first pic you posted. keep in mind these are likely mass produced in china and sold on ebay for as cheap as possible.

ive thought about figuring out a way to integrate a scope into the dash but it'd require some long probes or long speaker wire and then you'll have to mess with auto ranging - a feature most cheap scopes dont have. so now you're fumbling to get the music within the screen size while driving.

oh and to address the 0db setting of gain, unnecessary and useless for sub amps. if you listen to any variation of music the levels are so far off between them that without any sort of attenuation it wont sound right.

I agree I was going to mount my Nano in the dash with speaker wire to the probe and yes probe does work even on my 7k it worked, I haven't tried it on my Taramps 15k but I assume it will work. The reason i didnt do it was also the fact every time you turn it off it looses all settings and its just easier to hold it in your hand. I still like the idea though, maybe there's a better Oscope that's cheap enough that would store the settings ? Maybe newer nano ? mine is older one.

I always set to 0 db about 4 numbers away from full volume. So you have some play room if you get a song thats recorded lower. Ears are the best way to keep your equipment safe. If you hear buzzing then back it off.

My dso nano v3 came with these dinky "probes". Nothing close to the probe in my pic. With those i cant even see my subs full output at 1k.

you got a ****** probe then lol i mean you are changing the y axis to fit higher voltages right? you can always buy a replacement probe like the one in the pic i doubt its more than a few dollars

there are a few models that have those features but i havent used them besides seeing the ridiculously expensive scopes $1k+

jeff the guy on caco who does the 3d printing was messing with a scope you could build with parts so i dunno im sure its possible

What does your probe look like?

This is what mine looked like. I wasnt able to go past a certain gain on my 1k before i hit max setting.

Not following you ? You mean to run it in the dash and to hook to speaker wire ? I dont think the connector is the same as yours ? Mine is like the one on the second prob pic i sent ya ?

Yup yours is different but mine is old but looks like the adapter you show is exactly what you need.
