I have been using a Orion P12d2 12" 1000/500rms dual 2 ohm for the past 5 or 6 years and have been incredibly happy with it. However after about a year the wire that connects the voice coil to the connector breaks and I have to solder it back.
Well after a few years I decided I wanted to get something a little better that could handle the power of my amp.
I bought a Pioneer Premier SPL tsw3001-d2 12" 3000/1000rms dual 2 ohm subwoofer.
I hooked the speaker up today and it absolutely sounds like horse crap!!! I used the exact same amp and box as my orion and only adjusted the gains for the new speaker.
This thing has ABSOLUTELY NO response with mid-high frequency. My door speakers have more bass than this thing. But when it goes low (low frequency that can't be heard only crazy movement of the woofer) it almost acts like it wants to throw the sub out of the box, banging voice coils and everything.
I have my filters set correctly and my gains. I tried wiring under a 4ohm and 1 ohm load and not much different.
My amp is a MTX 1501D and my box is a 1sq ft sealed Q-logic box.
