Orion 2500d owners i need ure help...

ok i hooked up my old hifonics BX1000d and with all the new wiring it was loud as shit.... but i want this one to work.... i put all my settings where they were sposed to be using the pic that hccafan provided and still lots of movement and hardly any output... i almost wanna try wiring my subs down to a 4 ohm load to see if that will work... im still thinking that this might be lack of power from my alternator...

ok when i got it installed at the audio shop, the guy who works there told me that high pass filter isnt meant for subs so he told me to just keep it off, is this true lol
If sealed or tuned really low and only listening to music, shouldnt really need it.

i just hooked it up at a 4 ohm load and everything works just fine like that.... so i donno whats goin on... all my settings work great at 4 ohms perfection.... but at 1 ohm i have problems... so what does this tell me? before when i had it hooked up at 1 ohm i only used one of the speaker terminals and ran it from sub to sub.... this time since i wired it to a 4 ohm load i used both + and - terminal sets cuz i had to.... but would that make a diff at one ohm if i used 1 sub per + and - terminal set? cuz if that would that was my problem... sounds great at 4 ohms....

Wait a minute.....that might be your problem right there. Your wiring. Look at the diagram I posted, was it wired like that or similar when you had it wires before? You only used one speaker terminal on the sub or on the amp? Sounds like your issue was your wiring. Draw a giagram of how you had them wired at 1 ohm, in mspaint or something fast.

I wouldn't worry about your electrical causing the problem. If the amp doesn't get its current from the alt, it goes to the battery. If your whole electrical system was totally maxed out, well, your car wouldn't start or charge. You're also not using the full 2500 watts. The electrical system is hardly to blame here.

Since you've got them wired @ 4 ohm and you say the settings are right, wire them to 1 ohm and hook them back up, without changing any settings. If it's still messed up, you made a boo boo wiring.

i used the normal 1 ohm load wiring.... + and - from amp to 1st coil + and - on sub 1. speaker wire from first coil + and - to second coil + and -. from that coil it goes from sub one to sub twos first coil and then the second just like above. i know that it was correct cuz all was well with my hifonics. here is a ? tho. is it possible that if there was a lack of power that a sub would be able to move alot yet give very little output? i dont know how that all works cuz i mean if the amp works perfectly at 1200w x 1 at 4ohms and not at 2500 x 1 at 1 ohm is it possible lack of power is causing all my problems with this thing?

sounds like either you had issues in your wiring before, or one of the terminals on the amp isnt working properly. keep in mind that both of those speaker outputs on the amp is connected inside, so its not stereo.

this is how it should be wired up for 1 ohm

you can try any of the pos and neg speaker connections on the amp to see if any of them are not working properly.

an ur only supposed to use one set of terminals on this amp right?.....ur not supposed to use the neg from one set and the pos from the other?......thats what ive been hearing anyway......cuz the jl diagram shows it done with the neg bein used from one set and the pos from the the other set

if u think i am trying to bridge a mono amp.... i want some of what u are smoking

sounds like most of the trouble are user error.
you cant bridge a mono amp, those extra connections are internally connected to eachother.
i was givin him crap cuz i thot he was suggesting i was dumb enough to think i could bridge a mono amp just cuz there are 2 sets of terminals there... i know what i am doing. ive never had any probs with amps till this one... and i dont know why... that is why the existence of this thread came about
