Yea thats why i'm giong for a 2500 d, i wanna run abuot 2000 watts so I wont be turning the gain all the way up and "abusing it" like trigger just said I did...

I wouldnt have had to "abuse the amp" by havign the gains all the way up if the audio dealer would have actually hooked up both amps not just powered both and had ONE hooked up to my shit.... Fnially figured out that the one wasn't even powering the sx's once my one blew...

It's not a question of how far you turn your stuff up, it's just a matter of what it can and can't do.

There's no problem using all 2500 watts from a 2500 watt amp, it's meant to do that. But the gain control is a seperate amp altogether, that compensates for the ranges of different input voltages from your headunit, turning it 'all the way up' may be trying to get 2000 watts from your 2000 watt amp, or it COULD be trying to get 8000 watts from your 2000 watt amp. That's what blew your gear, not trying to get the most out of it.

Your amplifier has transistors in it that modulate the electricity to create sound waves, and when you exceed the capacity they have for modulation, they just run all the way open positive or negative, this is what clipping is, those components are meant to run on a duty cycle, they're not meant to runn 100% output for lengths of time, and neither is the power supply.

heres a idea...

why don't you spend $50 and build you OWN box and spend $450 on the subs?????

you could do so much more with $450 then $300...

unless you're not competent enough to build your own box...

Well the money i have to spend on subs is honestly no limit... I just want something ASAP and thats what i'd have for now... I am competent enough to build my own box but honestly I dont have enough time.

Why not just get a custom box for the sx's and run the 2500d on them instead?

Because the one SX needs a recone, I have a decent amount of money if I do wanna wait and I dont wanna use the SX's again just wanna try somethign diff
