There wouldnt be a load...

I can see how he might not be blowing the fuse, with impedance rise, but I was throwing out an idea for him, because it seems like he thinks there is a problem with the amp.

No, I got your point. And yes I realize they arent going to put out 150v.. I was just suggesting that if he got himself a DMM and checked the terminals, they might be putting out some crazy low numbers... Just a thought.

And just for my personal information, is it possible to figure out the actual impedance that the amp would see?

DMM to measure AC voltage, clamp meter to measure AC current... ohms law from there.

We have clamped that box on another amp, and it rose into the 4 ohm range.

i would say yes, but its like saying can you know my spl wihtout testing it?

oh and speakerman you forgot to add a true rms clamp meter is whats needed. dunno if its possible with a regular one but ive always done it with a true rms one.

it apparantly doesnt really matter.

Either way your results arent going to be dead on... there is no way to know if the amperage and voltage are peaking at the same time.

I have a orion 2500d also and just ordered a 12" RE MT

I dont want to have the same problem with my box as he is having.

Any suggestions?

thats why you go rms lol with the true rms voltmeter. well i do im not gonna argue wihtyou cause ive seen you argue with a couple of people about the same thing LOL but when i test both my voltage and amperage their both steady to the .1 probably cause im using an rms meter.

then you should never go into spl competiont LOL 10 boxes or so with my 12 and 4 boxes with my 3-10s and still not anywhere near loud. but yah just try thatfirst if it sucks oh well no one can predict what will happen exactly

i dont wear panties......but yea just thought it was wierd, figured since 9.1 was louder that something was up. even after proper adjusting its not what i expected. just means some testing is needed.

could this be why my dub7 is barely moving? it's wired @3ohms and i figured i should be getting ~1400rms. or am i wrong?
