Orion 2500 Question

Ok, got a 2500 on the way. Now heres my question. At .67 what are the possible problems i can run in to. I just want to be careful. Like it my voltage drops, will that possibly harm the amp? I shouldnt have to worry about voltage drops because i have a 235 amp ho alt and a yellow top, so i think i may be ok. But with this amp, better safe than sorry. Let me here some other things i may run into running this amp at this impedence. Thanks

You shouldnt have a problem with voltage drops as long as the alt was built properly, and you set the gain correctly.

Nothing else to really look out for, just at that low of an impedance you runa higher risk of damaging the amp.

im guessing due to heat? i will be running it at 2.67 daily, but i may get into comps and then ill wire it down to .67.

i haven't done this personally, but i hear those amps can go down to .35 for comps and some people argue that they can do that daily.

The main reason that amps die at lower loads is that the current capacity of the output devices or the power supply are exceeded and the parts go *poof*. With most amps, if voltage drops, current consumption increases dramatically and the possibility of cooking the power supply goes up greatly as well. You can overcome some of this with lots of cooling, but you will reach a point where no amount of cooling is going to keep the FETs from simply giving up the ghost.
