Optima D31t reading 7.4 volts :(

My Optima d31t that was running strong for almost 2 years, was reading 7. 4 volts today when i got home. I haven't driven the car since the trunk latch broke.

But i narrowed it down to the fact that since the trunk latch was broken, the trunk light was on permanently for like 2 weeks straight. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

But anyways, I tried charging it for like an hour and it read 10 volts, so i was hoping there isn't any dead cells?

The car still wouldn't start, or even turn over.

Finally i jump started it, but had HUGE voltage drops even after driving it for like 2 hours.

Then I turned the car off to re check the voltage. And i started it back up and WHALLA!!!

All was normal, if not better after this crazy phenomena.

I thought my battery was a gonner!!!

you should of just charged it up until it floated @ 12.6 V or so. its a deep cycle, it should of taken it just fine.

im sure youve heard this plenty of times but, you shouldnt use your alt to fully charge the battery //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

the reason your car wouldnt start or turn over with 10V is because 10.5V or so is considered a completely dead battery, so in essence, at that charge level, its like not having a battery at all

just a beast battery tho to be able recovering at such a low voltage, no?

Powermaster charger does wonders for dead batts

just grab a good brand name batt charger that has settings for regular/deep cycle/AGM.
