Opti2000D ratings don't add up

non clipped clean signal, it does by definition.

But my real point was that he used a calculation to find RMS voltage for a power calculation.

Voltage RMS = .707 * voltage peak

Power is a factor of voltage^2. .707^2 = .5

Would you mind showing me how that is not true?

Brian

Not that I give a rat's *** about this argument, but since when did THD factor in when doing max power testing on an amp for SPL purposes. It's not like there's a critical listening phase of the judging...

Sundownz:

Who cares about thd this is an spl forum....

3237 watts at 10.75 volts? wow thats about what I got out of a pair of powerbass 3000ds at the same voltage.... and the powerbass 3000ds were .5 louder then a soundstream 6500 so pretty much you are saying a sundown 3000 d is stronger then a soundstream 6500 on 12 volts?

this test give 1877rms at 13.8V@1ohm

If you're talking about sine wave math, sure - but in car audio the term peak is not universally defined - you don't know what you're taking .707 of.

$370 for a brand new one, from an authorized retailer.

And like I said before, 1 ohm nominal and 1 ohm reactive are two COMPLETELY different things. So why don't you add that to your little equation.

Arguing? Who's the one claiming big numbers without telling the whole story??

I got 4000 watts out of my zx2500 at .25 ohm on 18 volts

Did you "give up" or just realize that this is a battle you can't win?

You come into this thread about an amp that you've had zero experience with, talk shit about it, use that bashing to plug a product you run/support without even giving the correct info, and you're trying to act like I'm the bad guy here? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

299 w/ free ground shipping.

this will be my next amp for 2 type r 12"s @1ohm

So a 2000 watt amp has to be played below 1 ohm and @ 14v to get 2kw out of it?
and yet a sundown 1500d ( 1500 watt amp ) will do 2500 watts @ 12.8 @ 1 ohm?

sounds like a real quailty amp to me /sarcasm

whoa what!!! i thought i was getting like 1600 @ 1 ohm with 14.x V tops!!

I agree. . . .

I would assume if someone is taking power meaasurements for an amplifier they would be doing it with a clean sine wave, not music.

(my point still was the original post took peak power and multiplied it by .707 to get RMS power which is wrong. . . )

Opti's are pretty sweet amps, especially zed era. I have a 200.2(350x1@4ohm) that measured just under 1100w@2ohm.

If the numbers sound off, ask your buddies Loyd or Sean, they tested it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
