opti drive Lanzar's

Yes you have the right idea there. There is alot of false information I already read throughout this thread.
Set your gain correctly on the amplifier using a dmm or o-scope, or if you can, by ear. The gain is set for the input voltage your h/u gives out, it is not a bass boost or volume controler AT ALL.

Set your gains and then plug the remote in, it will not increase your gain over the point you have it set on the amplifier, but will turn it DOWN.
wowowow...

u got that wrong man..

that remote is a bass boost, nothing to do with gain.

just dont use that controller, it is USELESS

I have verified this with an oscope. I set the gains on the amp, then plugged in the remote and the remote overides the amps settings - it becomes the master gain. If you have access to an ocsillscope try it for yourself.

Just don't use the **** knob at all. They're useless anyway. Just set th gains correctly on the amp and use the VOLUME knob on your headunit to control the VOLUME. Outrageous consept, iknow, but it's worth a try;) . Besides, this way you won't be drilling holes into your dash to mount that plastic eyesore (remote).//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I prefer using the remote actually, especially with 148+ systems its much easier to control.

And I just ran out to my truck, set my gain VERY low, and then plugged in the remote, with the remote maxed out it DEF. does not override. I think I would be able to tell. Maybe with your amp it does, I unno

For many Lanzar amps, it becomes a override and master gain control just like DB said. I can speak from personal experience. You dont even need a 0-scope, you can use a DMM and see the difference. However, on amps such as MTX and Kicker, it will only go up to the gain which is set on the amp. Throw the remote away, set the gains on the Amp and depending on your HU, you can prolly raise and lower the output signal and use that as your remote.

id just get rid of it but i have stock HU and i want to be able to sometimes turn up my volume and turn down my sub. So either way it seems we've come to the conclusion is gain not boost...just weather or not its master gain or not is the question

install is gonna be tomororw if you've seen the thread "My first CA worklog" and i think im gonna try and use the controller cause of my stock HU i cant really tweak my settings at all...
