opti drive Lanzar's

i was looking through the manual of my opti1400D and it says in purposely bold letters REMOTE GAIN controller...can anyone answer from experience as i thought it was a boost controller....
thanks

If it controls the volume of the amp, its a gain control.

If it specifies that it controls the volume within a set frequency range (say 40hz +/-), its a boost control.

I dont know the specifics of your amp, but thats a general definition.

alright awsome....so how then should i set the gains while using this remote....set gain controler to max and set the gains how id want on the amp...then i can use remote gain to turn it down?

so it wouldnt matter what the amp gain itself is set to....so turning the gain controller all the way around would be as turning gain on amp all the way around

why i am confused...quoted directly from manual

"This amplifier comes complete with a REMOTE GAIN controller that can be mounted on your dash or in a console"

next page

"#8 (refering to a diagram) Bass Boost remote control input"

hey just bumping again before the new install goes in....just wnat to get a little more input from everyone....if it IS remote gain...and master gain then it shouldnt matter at all what the gain is set on the amp itself....and turning the knob all the way would be the same as doing that on the amp itself?

i have the exact same amp and its a bass boost centered around @45hz, dont use it is my advice...it fAcks up the sound / becomes muddy... just set ur gains on the amplifier

Yes you have the right idea there. There is alot of false information I already read throughout this thread.

Set your gain correctly on the amplifier using a dmm or o-scope, or if you can, by ear. The gain is set for the input voltage your h/u gives out, it is not a bass boost or volume controler AT ALL.

Set your gains and then plug the remote in, it will not increase your gain over the point you have it set on the amplifier, but will turn it DOWN.
