Opinions on the JBL BP1200.1

I'm thinking about powering my 1 Type X sub with this, would this be a good/sufficient amp? How is this amp overall? Thanks.
awesome amp a tad bit underrated. I love mine havent had a problem with it yet goin on 3 yrs with it

How many watts on the birth sheet would this read at 2 OHMS? Mines a 4 OHM sub dvc, so im going to run it at dual 2 ohms.. Thanks.

I liked that amp alot. I had it powering my Magnum 12 for about 2 or 3 months. It was a refurb from sounddomain and ended up blowing a power supply inside. But I guess that's a risk in buying a refurb. I ended up sending it back to JBL and since they didnt replace it and couldnt fix it they sent me a JBL GTO 1201.1 instead...

A buddy of mine has been running his Brahma 12 off of his for ~2 years and it now is running an eD15A and has had no problem with his whatsoever. Good amp for 1200 rms @ 1 or 2 ohms.

I'm running one on my 9512-44, and I have no complaints, especially for the price. It's a pretty solid amp, but mine seems to be a little power hungry, even with a 2nd battery I get a lot of headlight dimming, guess it's time to upgrade the alternator to keep up.

yeah thats what mine is running at this moment

Not a bad amplifier, though installation is a PITA. The Xovers/LPF isn't very well marked at all, and if you're installing it in the confines of a trunk you're not going to be able to adjust it very well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif But as far as the power output goes, not a bad price for a somewhat underrated amp.

I almost forgot to mention that if you are running a ported box, you'll need a separate subsonic filter, since it doesn't have one built in. I'm using the simple RCA plug in types, but a lot of EQ's and XOvers have them built in also.

This may sound stupid... but what exactly is a subsonic filter?

I heard these amps overheat real bad after 45 mins or so, any truth to that?

I also heard this amp draws a ton of power in.. any truth to that?

Aslong as gains are set properly, then they shouldnt, but then again mine was only ran at 2 ohms. It still shouldnt over heat on you unless youve done somthing wrong. Depending on the ohm load, then yes these things can draw alot of current. If you plan on running this amp at 1 ohm, then you better have a few upgrades to your electrical system. Big 3 atleast, and you should be fine.

Nope, i'll be running this at 2 OHMS. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
