Opinions on Polk DB series subwoofers.

Hello guys, i am new to this forum an di need some help. i have a Jeep Wrangler that i want to install an 8" sub in. the sub box is small; approx .37 cu ft. it is sealed.

i am running an Alpine MRP-M350 amp. 200 rms @ 4 ohm or 350 rms @ 2 ohm.

the sub i am looking at is the Polk DB804dvc. the sub matches perfectly with the sub box and the wattage of the amp. the price is awesome, Ebay $42.11 shipped and its new unopened box.

since its a Wrangler and it the tops stays down in the summer, i don't want to spend a lot on a subwoofer. so i would like to stay around $50 or so.

can you guy give me some honest opinions on this series of subs from Polk? even better on the 8" ?

sounds like you're set on the Polk so just get it. Nothing wrong with it and the price is good. Only other sub you might be able to snag around that price for that volume is an Elemental Designs 8" of ebay, but since you've already found the polk in your price range, get it

thanks for the reply. i went ahead and ordered it, i felt like that was a pretty good price on a good sub.

but does anyone actually own one of these subs, in any size? if so how does it sound?

I have owned the older Polk DB series (late 90s) subs and **** near heard them all except the current SR series. The polks are decent lil subs, esp that 8" your looking at and have fair output, but their ment more so for SQ that anything else. Def not bad subs for less than $50 on Ebay, but it may not be enought output depending on your goals and how loud you play it.

thanks for the reply. well unfortunately its going in a Wrangler, so more SPL may be better than SQ.

are there any 8"s that are better for SPL?
