Opinions on IDMAX 12 Please??

it's totally up to you what you want to sell it for, if he thinks its fair.

i was just going by what i have seen blown one going for around $120.

its worth what someone is willing to pay.

IDMAX are good subs and sounds great, but like SPL said they only have a 2" coil and a pretty tight gap so don't pour over 800 watts into them.

A buddy of mine destroyed his two 12" IDmax with two JBL 1200 watt amp to each, locked up the cone and everything. Here's a vid of us trying to break it after the coil started to rub, gives you an idea of the excursion capability of the IDmax.

I love mine. Single 12" on ~350rms in the smallest rec. sealed boxes. I wouldnt mind building a ported box for it, but I just haven't had time and it hasn't been a top priority by any means. If you put it in a nice box you should love the sub with any amount of power.

Always heard they were a bit delicate with the small coil. Why did they notPut a 3in on a higher end sub i wonder?
im guessing here, but i believe the larger the VC the harder it is to maintain SQ. it increases things like distortion, inductance, etc.

2.5 VC should have been used. AE AV uses 2.5" VC and its rated for 1000 watts and john has only had 1 report of one blowing, and it was due to them sending 2k to it if i remember correctly.

I think your right, I'd just think after all the power issues ppl have had they would go to 2.5

The idmax imo is one of the best subs out there. I wouldnt trade mine for anything.

800 watts will be plenty. I have run over 1000 to one of mine with no problems. And if for some reason you do have issues they have direct drop in recones. I think there are a total of like 16 screws to pull out and put back in to recone it

well ive never used any ID product, but they have been around a while. I would think the sub could take a true clean 1000 watts just like its rated.

maybe not... but maybe those who have had problems are pushing their amp into clipping, or using budget amps that arent the cleanest of power

i would look into the AE AV over the idmax. lower distortion, inductance, and a very very nice bl curve. 2.5" VC, true 1000 watt power handling

they are a great sub and very eff just gotta becareful with the power on them with only a 2" coil. used in good shape worth about $150,200tops...
Not true at all.

I had a pair of ID8D2V3's. They sounded fantastic and rivaled my DC Level 4 15" in output. I had my pair on a Cadence Z1200 rated for 500@2, but put out 350@2. I was running 100wrms per sub more than their max RMS and they were fine. Never got stinky, bottomed out, or anything. Infact Im positive I could have tossed even more power at them.

Id jump on it. You cant go wrong. I doubt you will be disappointed.
