Opinions needed (not for me) Audibahn aluminum subs

Okay, so I'm trying to un-branwash a buddy of mine so he doesn't go and put his wallet on a crash diet buying audiobling.. er... i mean audiobahn aluminum series subs. He says to me that his brother had some in his s-10 (which HE now owns) with audiobahn components and audiobahn 2400w amps in it... and it "slammed". So i say to him, have you ever thought of any other subs? And it seems his brother has audiobraihnwashed him, and now he thinks audiobahn aluminums are the end of all conversations. Give me sole solid feedback, good or bad, about the subs, so i can show him what INFORMED audio enthusiasts think about them.. before i slap him like a bitch.

I owned them back in the day...they were horrible. If he wants I can ship him my old baskets and blown softparts, that way he can view the build quality

installed a pair of aluminum 12's in an S10. We had em in 1.5 cubes sealed apiece, powered by some blingy audiobahn amp. They were loud as hell, since they were in such a small cab. However, they sounded like 100% Pure Rat ***. We played Late Night Tip through them, and instead of being able to hear 3 distinct bass notes like we should, it was just a prolonged, one-note droning.

Cliff's notes: They get loud, but they sound like complete ***.
