Opinions if this will be a good box or not.

Hey guys, some was wanting me to build a box for him.

He has a custom 2000w RMS 15". Here are the specs for the sub woofer.

Here is the box I came up for him.

17" by 17" by 34" (l one will be 17 3/4" cuz it will be double baffled) he wants it forward firing and an aero port. I was figuring to put the port on the same face as the sub but I'm not 100%. I'm trying to create a porfoilo of boxes I have build and until I can get my laptop working correctly I can't get anything on it.

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated and if someone could plug it into a box build program to see if it will preform good would be awesome. If any other info is needed let me know.

Once again, Thanks a ton in advance for all of your replys!

That's at 950 watts of input... nice response curve too.

Looks like it'll dig fairly deep too... Winisd says it hits that 25mm x-max around 25hz on that power. How much power is he planning to run?

Edit... answered question while typing

Really an 8" aero around 23-24" long (depending on volume) looks better for his power/volume/tune... if you can keep it about 4ft3 net

As a rule I always think of it like this... if their askin' for 70in6 of port you'll need 20% less if using a round... that's about 50in^ so that 6" is just a little small... 28in^... looks like it'll compress to me... and that means output will suffer at high volume.

Dual 6" need to be around 29" long, single 8"... about 23"-24"... both for about 4.15ft3 net... that's why I recommended an 8". The dual 6" are gonna be long af. Using a bigger port does not drop tuning... lol

Im not at home... thats IIRC

More port area usually requires more length for the same tune in the same volume.

Ok, well at 17" x 17" x 34" that is pretty much the biggest I can go. I tried plugging in for those sizes y'all were talking about and it just throws the tune way off.

He's another I came up with with dual ports

17" x 17" x 34" with two 4" diameter 10" long ports.

I was wondering does the placement change anything like compared to

1. Sub on the left side, two ports on the right side, both on same face of the box. As compared to

2. Sub on the left side, the two ports on the right side outer wall, that or.

3. Sub centered in the box and each of the two ports on each side of the sub.

I think 3 would could look the nicest, but idk if the placement has any effect or not is why I'm asking.

Stop right there... you're confused or don't get it... 2 4" rounds will be LESS port area... compression even quicker. 2 4" is 24in2 3 would be 36ish but that's a little low... but would be an improvement over a 6". But watch the length... as you use multiples or more area your length will increase.

Why the depth restriction? 5-6 inches of depth and a slot would be perfect (I'm assuming that the width is static)...

Sizing and tuning an aero can be frustrating... area is a set value for each size and length becomes an issue when bigger ports are used.

Sizing an aero to your power can be frustrating especially when you need length to hit a tune

He needs to be able to use his trunk still, that's also why he wants it forward firing. He says it's mostly just personal enjoyment but he wants it to really thump hard if he wants it to. He's not married to the idea if an areo port so I'll show him that diagram and see what he says.

That "diagram" is a modeled up box for the amp he's got and has only depth changed. Is his width max 34"?... depth could be less if it could be wider.

Trunk wall that enclosure on 2.5k and he'll be grinning...lol
