Ok here is the deal, I have a 2004 Crown Vic and Im itching to do something different setup wise for the next year. I have 2 ideas brewing but cant decide.
For the last few months, ive been running a single DC Audio LVL 4 18" in a 5.5ft3 net box tuned to 32hz in my trunk and loving it. However, im looking to do two things, get rid of trunk rattle, (and keep from breaking the trunk latch thats common with these cars and large setups) and get maximum impact into my cabin. I currently have a bandpass box design for the 18 I want to try but I also though about doing a blowthrough on the rear deck for a pair of 10s.
For those that dont know, the "hump" in these cars is right under the rear deck. I could cut out the space I needed on the rear deck and firing a pair of 10s into the cabin reflecting off the rear glass.
The bandpass would be nice but would require all my trunk space and my back seat, (would fire through their)
Question is, which would you do?
The 10s would prob be some higher end, more than likely some DC LVL 4 or LVL 4XLs and if I stick with the 18", id swap it out for a 18" XL at some point.
I like the idea of the 10s because I could do a false floor for my amps and batteries, and hide everything so all you would see if I open my trunk is just my spare sitting there. Id also keep my back seat.
Reason Im considering the 10s is my friend had a pair of HDC3 10s in his single cab GMC Serria and it was loud as piss. I know thats a much smaller cabin to pressurize, but im sure with a pair of LVL 4XLs off 4K or 5K I could make some noise as well. But other than Thorshammer, dont know of anyone doing a blowthrough with (2) 10s.
Any input on the subject is appericate fellas, thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
